Collator drive
- Special design for continuous operation
In folders, there are a number of applications for high reduction ratio gears that involve high continuous input speeds to the gear. In this case it is important to make the appropriate design modifications with respect to the sealing and lubrication for high duty cycle operation. This design example shows a specially modified CSF-2UJ unit with an input shaft. This gear is used to drive the collator.
This application is associated with high input speeds; therefore the gear features oil lubrication. In continuous operations it is important that the temperature of the oil does not exceed permissible values and for this reason the quantity of oil may need to be increased. In this example the housing on the input side of the gear is modified to provide additional space to hold the required volume. The oil level can be controlled using an oil level indicator.
